This course will teach basic skills for operating a sewing machine. It is the perfect place to start if you want to learn to sew.
This is a 2-hour classes. During the first 15 - 20-minutes we will do introductions, review the lesson and discuss proper posture.
The last 15-minutes will be spent answering questions or assisting students who might have fallen behind.
This class is for students who are just beginning to learn to sew with a sewing machine.
No prior sewing experience is required. However, to be successful, students must have a full size sewing machine. PLEASE HAVE YOUR MACHINE'S MANUAL HANDY.
At the conclusion of the class, each student should be able to:
- Identify basic sewing machine parts and what they do
- Be able to do a simple straight stitch and other basic stitches
- Complete a small project
Because of the limited duration of the class, we limit it to 5-students per session to allow for a more personalized experience.Â
Cost is $60 per student. You can register up to the day before the class to allow time for proper planning.
You will need:Â
- A sewing machine
- A pair of scissors
- 2 safety pins
- A measurement tape
- Iron
- The class printouts (will be emailed upon registration)
- 4 x 4 Piece of cotton fabric for practice
- Working computer with an internet connection and a camera so I can view progress

*** You must have a full size sewing machine and its manual handy prior to class ***
A parent should be close by incase minor set up assistance is needed.Â
No refunds will be issued after class has begun. If yore not able to make the class, credit will be issued towards a future similar "Introduction to Sewing" class.Â
