Sew Simple Throw Pillow

TIME: 10am - 11:15am ET

DURATION: 75-minutes

AGE GROUP: 8 and above

Difficulty: Beginner sewers

This course will teach basic skills for operating a sewing machine. It is the perfect place to start if you want to learn to sew.

This is a 75-minute class. During the first 10 - 15-minutes we will do introductions, review the lesson and discuss proper posture. We will also go over the materials needed to ensure everyone has what they need.

The last 10-minutes will be spent answering questions or assisting students who might have fallen behind.

This class is for students who are familiar with sewing and can sew a basic straight stitch with a sewing machine.

Working knowledge of a sewing machine is needed prior to taking this course.

To be successful, students must have a full size sewing machine. PLEASE HAVE YOUR MACHINE'S MANUAL HANDY.

At the conclusion of the class, each student should be able to:

• Know  how to measure out fabric for their pillow
• Know how to cut out fabric
• Know how to align the fabric on their sewing machine
• Complete a simple throw pillow

Because of the limited duration of the class, we limit it to 5-students per session to allow for a more personalized experience.

Cost is $50 per student. You can register up to the day before the class to allow time for proper planning.

You will need:

• A sewing machine
• A pair of scissors
• A measurement tape
• Iron
• The class printouts (will be emailed upon registration)
• 1/2 yard cotton fabric (18 inches long by 44 inches wide)
• Working computer with an internet connection and a camera so I can view progress

A parent should be close by incase minor set up assistance is needed.

No refunds will be issued after class has begun. If yore not able to make the class, credit will be issued towards a future similar "Introduction to Sewing" class.
