This is a great beginner project. You can use two contrasting fabrics, or use the same fabric for both sides. The bib can be made with several types of fabric: flannel, terry cloth, quilting cotton, sturdy knit fabrics, or laminate cloth.


Pattern can be printed on wax paper or copy paper.


AGE GROUP: 12 and above

DIFFICULTY: Intermediate sewists - some sewing experience needed.

PREREQUISITE: Recommended for someone who is familiar with a sewing machine. If you're not, then be sure to take our Introduction to Sewing Class prior to taking on this project.


To be successful, you should be able to properly sew simple stitches using your sewing machine.

Materials needed:

* Sewing machine (recommended beginner machine

* Pattern (see pattern pieces to determine how many pieces of fabric you will need to cut)

* Fabric needed

* Light weight fusible interfacing (cut 1/4 inch smaller than the main piece on pattern)

* Snaps (

* Scissors

* Sewing clips or pins (optional)
